Sheperd of Hermas

Hermas was an Apostolic Father. The work which was attributed to him was composed in stages by three different authors. The importance of the book which contains five Visions, twelve Mandates and ten Similitudes is the light it throws on the beliefs of Jewish Christianity at the close of the First Century and the beginning of the Second Century. “Hermas,” NIDCC, p. 465
