The concept of resurrection found in Scripture is usually understood to mean that a human body matters. The body is not some kind of expendable prison where the Platonic idea of a soul is kept locked up until it flies away at the end of life.
The early Christians believed that Jesus had been resurrected. He did not die and then go to heaven as so many Western Christians believe. The resurrection of the body gave those early Jesus followers a belief that they would also be resurrected to a transformed body when Jesus returned (Phil. 3.20ff.).
